advocacy and awareness
Athena Media as part of its media and communications services specialises in advocacy & awareness campaigns and has considerable track record in achieving results for its clients. We have provided public awareness communications plans which include content creation for clients like the Crisis Pregnancy Agency, the Internet Advisory Board, ComReg and Headstrong.
We advice clients on the construction of a communications model and plan, provide strategic advice and support in the delivery of the plan and provide content elements; whether text, audio-visual, online or marketing tools to augment the plan.
The Crisis Pregnancy Agency wishes to engaged parents in sexual education so we created a DVD with sister booklet to be used in workshops. The Internet Advisory Board wanted to encourage parents to become more involved in their children's online life so we created a colourful, pocket sized 'beginners guide to new media' and promote the booklet through a witty, nationwide radio advert campaign. ComReg, Ireland's communications regulator, wanted to alert the public to their website 'callcosts.ie', which offers consumers a cost-saving tool, so we created a nationwide mini-drama type radio campaign targetted younger and older people separately. ComReg then joined forces with the Data Protection Commission and wanted to let the public know they could block unwanted marketing calls so we devised a national radio campaign which was supported by public relations work for leading PR agency Q4.
For Headstrong, one of our long-term clients, we have worked with the team from inception and we will continue to work with them on raising public awareness about youth mental health and the solutions available. We are now supporting and advising DETECT - a Dublin based mental health NGO, on tackling public stigma and misunderstandings about severe mental illness.
In our consultancy work we worked with Ireland's development NGO sector and the relevant Government Departments to help create a media entity called Connect-World which aims to raise public awareness about development issues through communications and the media. We also advice clients in the NGO sector on managing their public advocacy campaigns and how they can best maximise the impact of their activities using quality content and digital technology; such as web based networks and online content like podcasting.
